Four Chord Music Fest returns to Pittsburgh for the 12th year, this time at the F.N.B. Stadium in Station Square. The September 25th and 26th dates cover 27 bands, 12 on Friday and 15 on Saturday. The Friday roster consists of Knocked Loose as their main act, followed by Underoath, Kublai Khan Tx, We Came As Romans, Saosin, Superheaven, Counterparts, Haywire, Militarie Gun, Thousand Below, Facewreck, and Pain Clinic. Saturday headlines with Pierce The Veil, and includes Mayday Parade, Boys Like Girls, State Champs, Mom Jeans, Motion City Soundtrack, Cartel, Finch, Driveways, Hit The Lights, Eternal Boy, Patent Pending, Keep Flying, Don't Panic, and Heading North.
Pre-sales sold out in less than an hour, offering two-day passes and single days, with optional VIP upgrades for both. Reception's been primarily positive, hosting a handful of local Pittsburgh artists such as Heading North and Facewreck, while also expanding its horizons into more of the punk scene.
Some recurring disappointments seem to be the lack of "bigger artists", a shift in genre/tone from past years, with one commenter calling the lineup "inferior" to past years. Pricing was also a common quip, going hand in hand with pre-sale selling out quickly, which made people question what the regular prices for admission would be if the presale was already a hefty expense. Four Chord Fest is also offering Layaway Plans, a financing tool offering multiple plans: $25 down for 2 day GA, single day GA, and single day GA+, $35 down for 2 day GA+ and single day VIP, and $50 down for 2 day VIP and more. There are also options to purchase parking for about $40/day.
With a loaded lineup and tons of experience options to choose from, Four Chord Fest promises one hell of a time for Pittsburgh natives and travelers alike. Pierce The Veil, Knocked Loose, and the remaining bands have shown nothing but excitement for the festival, commenting and reposting the neon flyer.
