Today we have another exciting new exclusive interview to share, featuring Philadelphia Pennsylvania's own experimental metal band, Kaonashi! Lets jump right in!

Sean O: Hey whats up, this is Sean O’Donnel with the No Skip Show, you don't wanna miss this! I am here outside the Roxian Theatre where Kaonashi just played, opening up for Kim Dracula. Who are you guys and where are you from? Y’know, rattle off your names and whatnot.

Alex: My name's Alex, I play guitar in Kaonashi.

Peter: I’m Peter, I do vocals in Kaonashi.

Pao: And I’m Pao, I play drums in Kaonashi.

Sean O:Ā Okay, how would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to you?

Alex: That's a hard one, we’ve like had a bunch of monikers, like progressive hardcore or emo mathcore. Lately we’ve just been going by heavy metal, we’re just a heavy metal band.

Peter: I definitely just consider heavy metal cause its so many different types of metal, do you know what I mean? So I can't just simplify it to one yeah, but it's like angry, technical, emotional music is what I would say.Ā

Sean O:Ā Speaking of what bands you might sound like, what bands have influenced you guys over the years?

Peter: Coheed and Cambria, yeah.

Alex: Yeah, Coheed and Cambria is an obvious one. There’s also other ones like, I don't know, Meshuggah, but Despised Icon is a perfect example. Motion City Soundtrack is another perfect example…

Peter: You know there's like Trapped Under Ice and Bayside, it's just like we, I, could just keep listing things over and over but I’d say like Dillinger, Coheed, those are like the main ones you can hear.

Sean O:Ā Top tier for you guys, awesome. You guys played a brand new song tonight, an unreleased track, what's the future for that song and what do we got coming in 2025.

Peter: On a LP that’s coming out this year on Equal Vision Records. I can say it's the last installment of the Lemon House series.

Sean O:Ā Okay, so the chronology is completing?

Peter: Completion dude, yeah, it's like all the facts are laid on the table this release.

Sean O: Amazing, amazing. Okay so we got one more question for you guys, what does your local scene mean to you and who are some Philadelphia bands Pittsburgh peoples should check out?

Peter: First and foremost, Ingest. But it means everything, it's where we came from you know what I mean? And just trying to give back what we’ve gotten to the scene, it's like the whole point, it's kind of crazy being in the position to give back in the first place.

Sean O:Ā Right.

Peter: Yeah, so that's really what is important to me, it's just pushing it forward with the platform we got now.

Sean O:Ā That’s amazing, that’s amazing it really is! This has been five minutes with Kaonashi. You didn’t wanna miss it, and I'm pretty sure you didn't miss nothing!
