Today we have the pleasure of sharing another exclusive interview, this time with Pittsburgh's own up and coming alternative metal/post hardcore band, Atlas Decay!

Sean O:Ā What’s up, this is Sean O’Donnell with the No Skip Show. I’m Here with the band, Atlas Decay, Pittsburgh locals. They just finished off a show at the Smiling Moose with Zeta and Lobby Boxer. I’m gonna start here with you, what's your name, where are you from?

Adam: My name's Adam, I play guitar.

Sean: I’m Sean, I play drums, I live in Pittsburgh.

Chris: I’m Chris, I play bass, I live north of Pittsburgh in Mars.

Sean O: Few questions for you guys. How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to you?

Adam: It’s always hard to do, uh I mean we’re a post hardcore band I guess.Ā

Sean: To try and answer that I always feel really pretentious because I can't, so I usually say like weird rock. I recently heard us called like alternative metal, I guess that fits too.Ā

Sean O:Ā Alternative metal sounds about right.

Sean: Sure!

Chris: Progressive post whatever, I don’t know, uhhh we get like the Fall of Troy and Coheed a lot I guess.

Sean O:Ā Ahhh okay, okay.

Chris: Similar vibe.

Sean O: Speaking of Fall of Troy and Coheed, what bands have influenced you guys over the years?

Adam: I think it's cool cause like we all have very different influences at the top of our list. For me like guitar playing’s like Incubus and Coheed and Cambria.

Sean: I mean I would say we definitely have a few overlapping influences, but we are kind of all over the place but I dont think it's a bad thing.

Sean O: You guys played some new unreleased tracks tonight, pretty exciting, where do we go from there?

Adam: We’re working on a couple singles. We’re working towards writing a full length, but that’s probably a little ways out. But since we’re all kind of living our adult lives now, we can’t play shows as much, but we’re gonna write as much as we can. So hopefully soon.

Sean: Yeah, we have a lot less time than we used to, kids and all that stuff. Two weeks ago that I laid down the drums for two songs, so it's a start.Ā

Chris: Maybe March.

Adam: We’ve actually ended up writing a lot more than we like kind of ever have, yeah like quicker. So it's turning up, we’re gonna keep at it.

Sean O:Ā More wheels are turning, okay. Final question, final question; what does the Pittsburgh music scene mean to you?

Adam: I don't really know, I guess what I like the most about it is the fact that like we see a lot of familiar faces at all these shows, especially since we met you like how long ago.

Sean: I like that question for this show because I just, this is our first show here in a long time, I know they only recently began to book shows again, so you know it was a nice throwback tonight.

Chris: Pittsburgh’s so diverse, there’s a lot of thriving scenes right now. The punk scene, the metal scene are all huge, they’re all super tight knit. Ours is kind of a weird niche being in the like post hardcore kind of swancore-y kind of vibe type thing. I don't know, there's not a whole lot, so we kind of fit in like a mesh of all the different genres I guess going on right now.

Sean O:Ā Alright, well that’s been a few questions with Atlas Decay!
