Who are LOCUS ULTRA?! Metal's Newest Secret Band

Hello everybody, welcome back to the No Skip Blog! Today we are going over a recent “new band” called Locus Ultra, who was just recently announced as support alongside Limbs, for an upcoming mini-tour in Florida with headliners Norma Jean. Now many of you may be asking, “who the hell is that?”, and you’d be right to, but for those who may have heard already it is speculated to be a secret band composed of the members of Underoath.

These masked musicians have performed before this announcement however, earlier this year they joined others for the 2025 Emo’s Not Dead Cruise, where guests would happen to coincidentally spot various members of Underoath without them being on the tour whatsoever. The anonymous newcomers would go on to play two performances during the cruise tour, with videos of their performance going viral through social media, including the r/Underoath page on Reddit. Here the speculation would ignite, with many members noting the glaring similarities between this “new” secret band and Underoath including; the signature signing drummer with his red bandana, the stage movements of Locus Ultra’s members, the frontman's vocal tone, and the fact they were reported to even play a few Underoath songs on the cruise. Oh don't forget the videos of their performance being posted by Underoath's own manager as well.

So far there hasn’t been any statement from Underoath themselves or their manager, but Locus Ultra had something to say to fans with a scrolling message on their back screen after the cruise performances, it stated:

“WE HAVE BEEN LOCUS ULTRA.

AN IDEA THAT IS HOUSED IN BEING FREE, EXPRESSING LOVE FOR MUSIC, CREATIVITY, HONESTY AND THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT THOSE IDEAS. LIFE IS MORE THAN NUMBERS, STATUS, IDENTITY AND PROFIT. IF ANYTHING, THEY ARE THE VERY THINGS THAT DILUTE OUR TRUE PURPOSE.

IN A WORLD THAT IS MARRED BY CHAOS AND PIA, IT IS RARE THAT PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED, YET ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE THEIR TRUE SELVES. SOMETIMES PRETENDING TO BE ANYTHING ELSE IS HEALING.

TONIGHT WAS ONE OF FIVE NIGHTS TOTAL THAT THIS BODY OF WORK WILL EVER BE PERFORMED IN ITS ENTIRETY. OUR GOAL IS TO NOT TRY AND MAKE HISTORY, BUT SHARE A MOMENT IN TIME WITH PEOPLE THAT WE OWE THE WORLD TO.

THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY IT TAKES TO PUT YOUR WHOLE SELF INTO A CREATIVE VENTURE IS EXHAUSTING AND THIS WILL BE A NIGHT THAT WE HOLD DEAR TO OUR HEARTS FOREVER.

So with this message we at least know it is a limited venture for this secret, new act. Maybe all will be revealed after these five fateful performances? But does anyone here believe this is all just mass coincidence or it truly is Underoath “hiding” in plain sight? The words locus ultra themselves can be spotted on the cover art for their recently released single Teeth, so many fans think this is all just a ploy or promo for an upcoming, unreleased Underoath project. A project the new band supposedly has been playing in full at their limited shows. However, since nothing has been confirmed or denied by the band or anyone in their camp, this all could just be a huge coincidence and this new upcoming band just kicks major ass while having uncanny similarities with the metalcore legends.
