Hello everyone, welcome back to the No Skip Show! Today we bring the exciting news of the recent announcements from the biggest name in modern deathcore, Lorna Shore! If I know our audience then most of you should already know the big plans the band has for this year. For any unfamiliar or new listeners we’ll lay it out for you just the same, you may even be familiar with the name Lorna Shore even if you aren’t a devout listener. Or at the very least with their frontman/vocalist, Will Ramos. Ever since Will's addition to the band in early 2020 the band has become a powerhouse in their respective genre; launching the band, as well as the genre, into mass success not seen by a deathcore band in decades. Now with Wills added genius, the band plans to keep chugging along with a recent corresponding tour/album announcement slated for late 2025!

Lorna Shore - "Oblivion" (2025)

With just a fifteen second snippet of a teaser on May 12th via the bands Instagram account we would be greeted with what looked like the band gearing up for a bombshell announcement. It wasn’t until almost a week later on the 17th we received something solid from the same account, a huge North American tour announcement, set to begin the 17th of September in our very own Pittsburgh, PA! The ticket boasts a stacked lineup for such an ambitious tour, featuring The Black Dahlia Murder, Shadow of Intent, and Peeling Flesh. So far this tour is marked to be the band's biggest to date, both venue-wise and in attendance. I can only think of maybe a handful of other tours that have the hype this one does, most being legacy acts or reunions. But just as importantly, maybe even more so, the band would also accompany the tour announcement with the release of their newest single Oblivion and its music video, the band's newest main project release in two years since Pain Remains (2022). A stellar day for fans indeed, but the next day would be just as good! Set to release not even a week before the tour is slated to begin, the band's newest album, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, will be out on 09/12. This announcement should be doubly exciting since this will be the bands second full-length release with singer Will since joining the band. The project also has the added hype of following up their first full-length album with Will, The Pain Remains, the album that catapulted the band into almost mainstream success along with the help of Wills debut song with the band, To The HellfireĀ (2021). This song, along with all of the projects Will has been featured on since, are now the biggest releases the band has had since its inception.

In fact, it could be said that without Will and To The Hellfire, along with the Pain Remains album, the band would be nowhere close to where they are now. Will himself has changed the landscape of the band and their genre since his short time as vocalist, initially being a tour replacement for previous singer CJ McCreery. While deathcore has been one of the more popular of the metal genres it was never at the success it currently is now, largely being attributed to how unique Wills voice and vocal techniques are, as well as the singer himself. Will is one of the most humble and kind individuals in the scene today as witnessed from any live show or Youtube video he is featured on, one even being a full analysis into his vocal chords and how he himself screams/sings. He is a man that truly loves what he’s doing and appreciates everything the fans give him while having the most fun he can. That being said, since his introduction the band has leaned more away from traditional deathcore and into symphonic deathcore. A slight variation with a heavy focus on the instruments, atmosphere, and feel, more so than the raw, brutal, anger in normal deathcore. But this has seemingly worked out well for the band as they are the biggest they’ve been since forming, the biggest deathcore band to date even, and only in such a short amount of time. A stellar achievement that most bands outside of the genre can’t even boast. Being a fan of both sounds I do personally enjoy Lorna Shore's new approach a little better than the traditional, as the worldbuilding and atmosphere are just unmatched while being mixed with Will's impressive, awe-inspiring vocals. It maintains the spirit of the traditional deathcore route but with the wonderful addition of atmospheric background noise and a somewhat story that builds throughout each track, adding to the overarching concept of the album. You can feel the emotion ooze off the tracks while still simultaneously being blasted away by Will's vocals and the band's killer instrumentals.

Lorna Shore - "To The Hellfire" (2021)

However, this slight shift does have a few devout fans and deathcore elitists worried. With this tonal change into a more refined, polished, and ā€œsofterā€ style many are worried that this could signal the start of clean vocals for the upcoming album. This point primarily comes from Wills own personal Youtube channel where he has sung multiple non-deathcore covers that feature him doing just cleans, such as Rain by Sleep TokenĀ and Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd bloOdĀ by Bring Me The Horizon, as well as a clean vocal feature on nothing, nowheres TRAG3DY. But with the first single from the new album already released, I say we are absolutely fine, there is nothing to worry about. It may be the very first single, but if it doesn’t answer your question on whether there will be cleans or that Lorna Shore is going soft then you definitely did not listen to Oblivion. Many fans fear that with the introduction of genres like octane-core in modern music many bands will continue to forsake their original sound in favor of something simpler and more mainstream appealing, like seen with a handful of bands already, but I can say for certain Lorna Shore is not one of those bands. While it could still be too early to tell, you cannot deny the genuine rage and ferocity that comes out of Oblivion. A step in the right direction for the elitists out there who are worried about losing their favorite deathcore band.

nothing,nowhere, Will Ramos - TRAG3DY (2023)

With roughly four months till the album's release and its tour is set to begin we still have plenty of time to see if Lorna Shore is indeed turning soft, but I can already feel that is not the case. Pain Remains may have been just a product of circumstance with the lineup change, or state of the world at the time, or maybe a sign that Lorna Shore's ever evolving sound is about to evolve past traditional deathcore, cleans or not. Regardless of the speculation, no one can deny that modern deathcore, Lorna Shore, and these new releases have been extra blessed lately, thanks to Will Ramos. The anticipation over the album and tour cannot be denied through the fandom no matter what direction Will and the boys decide to take the band.

Are you excited for the new album? Thoughts on Oblivion? Do you think the new album will follow in the footsteps of Pain Remains, or is a step in the right direction back to ā€œnormality?ā€ As always, thanks for reading and happy listening!!
