On May 14, 2025, fans of rock and metal were met with unexpected news as I Prevailāone of the genreās most prominent bandsāannounced the mutual departure of founding clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser. Brian, who helped form the band in 2013, had been a central figure throughout I Prevail's rise to international success.
The band shared the news via an official statement on social media:
āTo Our I Prevail Family: Today we share that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right one and we are all grateful for the 10 epic years we shared together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors. Moving forward, Eric will continue to be the powerhouse frontman youāve come to know and love. Heāll be backed up live by Dylan, who youāve seen in this role many times over the years at the shows weāve performed without Brian. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver the high-energy shows that weāve made a pillar of our band, and we will continue to perform all the bangers from our catalogue. All scheduled shows will go on exactly as planned. New music coming soon...See you out there.
Eric, Steve, Dylan, and Gabeā

Burkheiser was a key contributor to the bandās discography, which includes the 2014 Heart vs. MindĀ EP, and the full-length albums LifelinesĀ (2016), TraumaĀ (2019), and True PowerĀ (2022). I Prevailās accomplishments during Brianās tenure include Grammy nominations, massive radio singles, and headlining tours across amphitheaters and arenas around the globe.
Over the years, Brian has faced recurring health issues, particularly due to Eagle Syndromeāa condition affecting the jaw and throatāwhich has caused him to miss multiple tours, including 2017ās Rage on the StageĀ tour. Most recently, his absence at Sonic Temple 2025 raised questions among fans, with guitarist Dylan Bowman stepping in to cover vocal duties during live performances.
While the exact reasons behind Brianās departure have not been publicly disclosed, the tone of the announcement suggests the split is amicable. The band has confirmed that all upcoming shows will proceed as scheduled, and new music is on the horizon.
I Prevail remains committed to delivering their signature high-energy performances and continues to evolve while honoring their past.
