Hello everybody, welcome back to No Skip News! Today, we have an absolute bombshell announcement to pass along for you! As many of you may have kept up with last year, Michigan’s metalcore powerhouse I Prevail parted with longtime vocalist Brian Burkheiser over internal issues. We’re not here to debate or fan the flames of what led up to the departure, only to pass along the information we see to you, the fans. And with that information, many of you may also know that this unfortunate situation would not keep Brian away from his passion, announcing in the second half of 2025 a brand new project he was working on named SCATTERBRAIN.
So far this project would only release a cover of Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me do, yes the irony is not lost, due to “an unresolved band dispute” blocking him from releasing original music. However, that would soon be put behind him, freeing him to finally produce original tracks. Revealing in a post via Brian's Instagram just two days ago on the 5th, he would state that he is now a “free, independent artist” going on to announce the release date of his first original single under the new moniker. This single is named PHASES, and will be released this upcoming Friday on the 13th, yikes! But make sure to catch it and the accompanying music video when it's released!
The post wasn’t the only hint of the new single as only 16 hours ago of this writing Brian released a short teaser for the single, project, and seemingly future of it all as he narrates for less than a minute on the last year leading up to this project and release. The caption of the post simply reads, “No turning back… ‘PHASES’ out 2/13.”
Are you all pumped for this new chapter for Brian? Do you think I Prevail made a mistake parting with their longtime clean vocalist? All we can do is wish both the best of luck for their future endeavors and support them however we can! As always, thanks for reading and happy listening!
