Hello everybody, and welcome back to the No Skip Show! Today I, Dylan Tormey, bring you more news of another exciting, and out of the blue, collab. It's the week of dream collabs apparently, but we’re not complaining! This new fever dream collab consists of early 2000s rock legends Nickelback and everyone's favorite fun, whacky, groove-filled English rock band, DON BROCO. 

As I sat at the desk of my boring ass security job at 3:30AM, staring off into the cameras I get paid to ignore, I did not expect to see two separate teasers promoting a new single from DON BROCO, featuring Nickelback! Ever since the release of their 2021 album, Amazing Things, the band has been relatively quiet with releases, only having Fingernails and Birthday Party to fill the gap of new music until the middle of last year with their newest single, Cellophane coming out July 25th of that year, just after signing with Fearless Records. This new track would open the floodgates for the rest of the year as the band would go on to release three more singles afterwards, signaling that a new album is not too far behind. However, the band would go silent once more for almost three months, waiting for the new year to further their new album plans.

Starting just the beginning of this week the band would begin posting multiple teasers on their Instagram about a new song in the works, the unreleased single even being played to fans who attended their most recent tour. It wouldn’t be until Tuesday of this week that they revealed what the single was, and who was on it, giving even more teasers on the sound of the track. The release of the single and music video to YouTube would be yesterday evening at 2pm EST, with the full release on streaming saved until midnight the same day. And let me tell you when I heard this song I almost blew a gasket. DON BROCO are widely known to produce chaotic, groovy, whack, heavy, pop-infused tracks but this single I think is the pinnacle of their creativity and skill so far.

From the very first guitar riffs you can already expect to embark on a wild journey, almost immediately being greeted by Rob yelling in your face then smoothing out into Mr. Nickelback, Chad himself, blessing our ears with his soft vocals. The track does an amazing job of blending together the frantic, chaotic, heavy energy throughout the track with smooth, clean vocals, groovy as hell bass, and epic instrumentals. As I told Travis after I listened to the single for the first time, this will shut up any Nickelback haters, which I definitely am not. Growing up with Chad and his buddies I always had a soft spot for them, but then after the early 2000s radio rock revival I could proudly say I have always been a Nickelback fan. Chad is a great vocalist and the band are great at what they do, now added to something like a DON BROCO track and you have all the ingredients for success.

All of this culminates into the big release though, the upcoming fifth DON BROCO album. Public mention of it is scarce, but looking for the single on Spotify you can notice a countdown actively going on. The counter reads as of this writing, 41 days, 21 hours, 17 minutes, setting the release for March 27th of this year. Are you excited for the new DON BROCO album, how did you like the newest single?
