Hello everybody, and welcome back to the No Skip Show! Today, we bring you some absolutely bonkers news involving everyone's cult-classic yet elusive midwest emo band, American Football! You heard that right, this is not a drill as it is a bombshell of an announcement, so let's dive right in!

As for those of you who don’t know or aren’t familiar, American Football was a very, if not the most, influential midwest emo band from the late 90s. Hailing from Urbana, Illinois they would unfortunately break up shortly after releasing their self-titled EP and debut album, also self-titled, in 98 and 99 respectively. Fun fact, all their official albums and EP are self-titled. This would leave a hole in the scene for years to come, until the band would miraculously reunite in 2014, releasing a deluxe version of their first album in the same year to signal that the band was rejuvenated. They would go on to release two more self-titled albums in 2016 & 2019, but then go silent once more for new music, only releasing covers of their songs, features, anniversary additions, and demos up until this point.

After a very successful 2025 the band would go on to post via their Instagram in the latter half of January what seemed to be a teaser for the band. With nothing to tell other than a short clip of what looks to be a picture of a lake with birds chirping outside but with the faint background noise of instruments playing, potentially signaling they are currently working on or recording new music as we speak! Things would even spice up further as the band would go on and announce their upcoming 2026 summer tour on February 3rd, hinting at bigger plays in the works. This would seemingly be confirmed about a week later on the 12th as the band would post another teaser on their Instagram of the band themselves in a studio recording a trumpet section of a song with the simple caption, “The One with the Piano”.

This is very exciting for those who are fans, but also monumental for the scene itself as this signals American Football LP number four, just their fourth album in thirty years and their first one in almost seven! The band would continue this hype in the coming weeks, seemingly releasing new information or teasers each new week on their Instagram account, last week on the 16th being another short video teaser of a man hanging up American Football posters, with no caption. All these teasers would eventually culminate to their post from a week ago on the 19th, that self-titled LP number four is in fact on its way, slated for May 1st of this year!! This isn’t all the fantastic news however! As of twelve hours ago from this writing, on their Instagram once more, the band announced that come 9AM EST, the very first single of the album would be released, titled bad moon!
